Tourism Industry Leadership Forum

In response to an invitation from Tourism WA Chairman, Kate Lamont, to provide the Board of TWA with opinions, observations and ideas about future opportunities to better meet the needs of the tourism industry in WA, TCWA, in conjunction with Australian Hotels Association (WA), held a Tourism Industry Leadership Forum on the 16th September 2009 to canvas the views of the tourism industry in WA.

Twenty four representatives from a broad cross section of the tourism industry attended the Forum and a further fifty provided input prior to the Forum.

The Forum reviewed the current services provided by TWA being Destination Marketing, Event Tourism, Industry Development and Visitor Servicing and examined the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats associated with each service provided.

A comprehensive summary of the Forum discussions was provided to Kate for consideration by the Board of TWA and, whilst there were no definitive outcomes from the Forum, the results clearly outlined a strong need for change at TWA.

TCWA Industry Forum - Bunbury

Some 15 people braved the wet and windy weather to attend a Tourism Industry Forum, hosted by TCWA at the Lighthouse Beach Resort in Bunbury, on the 10th of September.

CEO Graham Moss provided an overview of TCWA activities over the past 12 months while Business Development & Marketing Manger Minda Penn provided an update on the Australian Tourism Accreditation Program.  Those present were invited to raise issues relating to the tourism industry in the region and ask questions.  The forum was followed by informal networking.  Thanks to all who attended and to Tiffeny Gregg, General Manager of Lighthouse Beach Resort, for her hospitality.

While in Bunbury an Accreditation Workshop was also held for local operators to learn more about the program and commence their accreditation online.
