After 6 years of outstanding service Ian Laurance has decided to stand down from the Board of TCWA. Ian, who has been TCWA’s Vice-President since 2008, was recently appointed Chair of the Perth Convention Bureau and has cited this as his reason for standing down from the TCWA Board.
Ian said that "during my lengthy period on the Board I have enjoyed the company of many outstanding figures in the tourism industry who give their time and passion voluntarily to further the growth and development of this wonderful industry and it has been an honour to serve with them".
He said that "whilst the Council has had its ups and downs during these years it is currently in a strong position and I am proud of being able to convince Graham Moss to take on the role of CEO and of finding Minda Penn to manage the all important accreditation business".
Ian enjoyed two great personal milestones during his time on the TCWA Board - he was made a Member of the Order of Australia for his service to the Tourism Industry in 2006 and was awarded the Sir David Brand Medal in 2008.
TCWA President Paul King said that “Ian has given outstanding service not only to Tourism Council WA but to the Western Australian tourism industry in general. Ian’s advice and guidance during my first year as President of TCWA has been invaluable".
Ian will attend his last TCWA Board meeting on the 25th May.
